The solution for me was to restart the Mac just pushing AltĪrriving at this point you need to select not your MacintoshHD but the one on the right instead which is the image of your Mac. Double-click on Disk Utility - Utilities as shown below. For uninitialized external hard drive on mac, you can use Disk Utility as the first aid to kill this problem. Type Disk Utility in the search field as shown below. Disk Utility is the free macOS program designed to manage and repair both internal & external hard drive, also, you can utilize Disk Utility to format and combine disks. Shift+Alt+Cmd+R : For the internet reinstall but the problem still persists Click on the Spotlight icon from the menu bar as shown below.If you can’t see a Run button, click Repair Disk instead. At the top of the Disk Utility, click the First Aid button and choose to Run it. Start with the bottom volume and work your way up before moving to the containers and the disk. Cmd+R : For the normal reinstall but the problem still persists Select a volume, container, or disk from the sidebar in Disk Utility.Once Disk Utility has loaded, choose the disk you wish to repair - the default name for your system partition is generally 'Macintosh HD', and choose Repair Disk. Select Disk Utility from the macOS Utilities menu. You already tried to partition the disk multiple times but it keeps erroring with the Error: -61 Restart your Mac, and press Command + R, while its restarting. I believe you followed the official guides and you tried to factory reset your Mac and you find yourself in this situation: the disk is locked and you cannot select it for re-installation
